Letter: Wynn Las Vegas dazzles the senses
Monday, June 6, 2005 | 9:08 a.m.
Although the flurry of negative press coverage that Wynn Las Vegas received after its opening may have lowered my expectations, my recent visit to the area's newest hotel left me as awe-struck as must have been the first Portuguese to enter the valleys of Serendip. For Wynn Las Vegas is much more than the finest Las Vegas resort.
A visit to this extravaganza yields an experience of the senses that is only rivaled by one's first encounter with the neon-lit Las Vegas Strip. Wynn Las Vegas' main entryway is adorned with a multitude of flowers that emit wonderful fragrances, and its spacious pathways wind their way in a cubist-like manner until they encircle the casino floor. Moreover, the brightly colored designs on the floors of these pathways so fully capture the focus of the viewer that every look up from them and into the natural light so prevalent throughout the property momentarily renders a blurred image of this man-made landscape.
I would venture to say that the best work of art at Wynn Las Vegas is not in the Wynn Collection.
