Saturday event will feature bike safety
Las Vegas Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian and the Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services invite residents to the Bike Rodeo and Traffic Safety Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Rotary Park, Hinson Street and Charleston Boulevard.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children, with or without bikes, to learn about bicycle traffic safety, try the obstacle course and maybe win a bike.
Additional participating organizations include Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, the Meadows Neighborhood Preservation Association, the Regional Transportation Commission and the Las Vegas Marshals.

Teens can learn scuba diving
Teens 12-15 years old will learn safe diving skills when they participate in scuba camps offered noon-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 20-24 and July 25-29, all through the Las Vegas Leisure Services Department.
Advanced Ranger Scuba Camp will be held the same hours, June 27 through July 1 and Aug. 1-5 at the Pavilion Center Pool, 101 S. Pavilion Center Drive. Staff from Gr8 Divn, a scuba and dive shop, will teach the youth.
Participants will learn how to properly use the buddy system, fins, regulators, and masks, as well as airway control and snorkel maintenance. All equipment will be provided.
The Advanced Ranger camp expands on skills taught in the beginner camp. Registration forms, numbers and codes, and a free Sensational Summer 2005 scheduled of activities are available by calling 229-6309.
VIP pizza chefs cook up a benefit
Sammy's Woodfired Pizza will partner with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to host a pizza cook-off contet at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Sammy's, 4300 E. Sunset Road, Henderson (just east of Green Valley Parkway).
The benefit will feature local VIPs, and radio and television personalities in a cook-off to create a new Sammy's pizza, which will be featured on the menu at both locations Friday through June 24.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will receive 100 percent of sales of the winning pizza. Additionally, 25 percent of all sales generated at the Henderson location Monday will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Art camp set for kids, 11-14
The Las Vegas Art Museum offers youth the opportunity to learn the elements of art and design, and then put that learning into practice during Camp Kaleidoscope.
Youth ages 11 to 14 will spend their mornings exploring the museum's art, studying art design, techniques and murals, and learning art history during the annual art day camp. After lunch, campers will work in the studio with an artist to produce a Centennial mural for display in the Grotto gallery at the Sahara West Library in August.
The museum is located at 9600 W. Sahara Ave., and will hold three week-long camp sessions from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday July 11-15, July 18-22, and July 25-29.
The $200 cost per week for Camp Kaleidoscope includes instruction, art supplies, drinks and snacks.
