Police seize 26 illegal video gambling machines

Thursday, June 2, 2005 | 9:33 a.m.

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Police and state agents have seized 26 video gambling machines from six private businesses.

The machines were taken Wednesday and administrative charges were filed against the firm's business licenses, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department. The State Law Enforcement Division also helped in the raids.

The search and seizures are a continuation of an investigation into a fatal robbery in Columbia in March, police said.

Officers investigating the death of 42-year-old Jimmy Robinson found illegal gambling machines inside the home where Robinson was shot. No arrests have been made in his death.
