A 26-year-old man who died in a motorcycle wreck Sunday was identified by Metro Police as an off-duty officer.
Fred Hernandez died when he struck the rear of a tanker truck that was turning right of Vegas Valley Drive into a water treatment plant, police said.
The Las Vegas Police Protective Association has set up an account to help Hernandez's wife and two children. The account is at Bank West of Nevada under the name LVPPA/Hernandez, account #0220076359.
Hernandez was an officer for about a year and a half and was assigned to the patrol division, Officer Bill Cassell said.
