Foundation will award scholarships
The Public Education Foundation will present $456,350 in scholarships to 144 students Thursday during a ceremony and luncheon at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel.
Scholarships are provided by a cross-section of community leaders, businesses, organizations and individuals. Sponsored fields of study include traditional areas such as business, education, technology, finance, science and the arts as well as various trade programs.
The luncheon includes entertainment from the House of Blues Schoolhouse Band.
Nicole Marie Hodgdon of Henderson
was selected to the Dean's List for superior academic achievement during the Spring 2005 semester at Longwood University.
Jordan Chesin, a senior at Desert Pines High School,
has been selected a Distinguished Finalist in the 2005 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program, which honors outstanding youth volunteers. Jordan is being honored for founding and leading a community service organization at his school.
