Letter: Bush’s leadership good for country in many ways
Wednesday, June 1, 2005 | 8:57 a.m.
Dolores Kelley, in her May 17 letter, asked President Bush's supporters to give "one example of why we are better off because of his re-election." Well, here's more than one.
Bush's tax cuts for everyone who pays federal income tax helped pull us out of the recession that started before the end of President Clinton's last term. Consequently, the U.S. gross domestic product has grown 4.4 percent since 2002. Employment is up to 94.8 percent. Interest rates are still at or near historic lows and inflation is still very low.
Bush has given us five years of scandal-free administration of the executive branch and has helped lift the ethical and moral standards of government and society out of the gutter by being a good role model.
Bush has helped re-establish America as a beacon of freedom, democracy, common sense and compassion, especially in areas of the world neglected so much for so long.
Bush is nominating highly qualified jurists who will make decisions based on the U.S. Constitution instead of basing them on a humanistic, liberal, left-wing legislative agenda.
And here's the best reason we are better off with Bush in the White House: Neither Al Gore nor John Kerry were elected.
