Laughlin defendant allowed to travel

A federal magistrate is allowing a defendant in the Hells Angels case to travel to Spain to attend a tattoo convention, according to court documents filed on Thursday.

U.S. Magistrate Peggy Leen granted defendant Eiland Hogan's motion for a modification of his pre-trial release and is allowing him to be in Barcelona from Sept. 9 to Sept. 11 to attend the 10th annual International Tattoo Show, according to the magistrate's order.

Leen stated that Hogan must surrender his passport upon re-entry to the United States.

The government objected to the motion, claiming scheduling conflicts because the trial against 42 Hells Angels is set to begin in the first week of October.

The 42 Hells Angels are accused of gun possession and aid of racketeering in connection with a riot at Harrah's Laughlin in 2002 that left three dead.

Suspect in stabbing sought

Metro Police are looking for a man who allegedly stabbed his brother and killed a woman in an attack Wednesday night.

Police said they discovered two stabbing victims along Brady Avenue, near Washington Avenue and Bruce Street, after an emergency call around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The stabbing victims -- a 24-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman -- were taken to University Medical Center. The woman died a few hours later. The man is reported in stable condition. The victims' identities were withheld pending notification of family.

Police said the man who was stabbed and his brother, Leovijilto Elena, are believed to have been arguing when Elena allegedly stabbed his brother and the woman.

Elena is described as 30 years old, 5 feet tall, Hispanic and 175 pounds. He is said to also use the names Leo Martinez and Jose Leo Martinez-Vera. Police caution that Elena should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about the incident or Elena's location may call police at 229-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
