After-school project planned for teens
Teen Scene, a supervised, after-school program for middle school students ages 11-14 will be held until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The program provides a safe environment for youth to receive homework assistance and participate in sports and games.
These are the school locations:
Brinley Community School, 6150 Smoke Ranch Road, 646-9046; Cadwallader Community School, 7775 Elkhorn Road, 229-1633; Gibson Community School, 3990 W. Washington Ave., 229-5096; Johnson Community School, 340 Villa Monterey, 229-6175; Lied Community School, 5340 W. Tropical Parkway, 229-5072; Molasky Community School, 7801 W. Gilmore Ave., 229-5345.
Danielle Swain of Las Vegas
has been named one of only 53 Emerson Scholars, entitling her to a full scholarship to attend Interlochen Arts Camp, which is celebrating its 78th year as a leader in arts education. A $5,582 scholarship, the Emerson Scholars Award provides full tuition, private lessons, and room and board for the six-week summer program. Danielle is the daughter of Scott and Laurie Swain and attends the Las Vegas Academy, where she participates in advanced orchestra.
