Senior center will host health fair

A free Health and Wellness Fair will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lieburn Senior Senior Center, 6230 Garwood Ave.

Free blood pressure checks, bone density testing, dental screening, eye screening, hearing tests, spinal screening and many more healthcare services and information booths will be offered. The event also will include free continental breakfast, sandwiches and raffle gifts, while they last.

No appointments. Health services are on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 229-1600 for more information.

Coin, stamp expo planned at Sahara

The International Coin and Stamp Collectors Society will present its eighth annual International Coin, Currency and Stamp Expo Aug. 5-7 at the Sahara hotel.

The expo will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The expo will features dealers displaying a variety of worldwide investment grade and collector quality merchandise. Gold and silver coins and currency will be available for viewing and purchase.

Also a selection of hobby supplies for stamps, coins and currency will be shown, along with jewelry, memorabilia, postal history and other assorted collectibles in all price categories.

Admission is $2; $1 for seniors; children 12 and under are free. Call (888) 696-2121.

Tortoise program planned at Lorenzi

The Tortoise Group will present a free slide program about "How a Tortoise Works: Reproduction, Hatchlings, and Hibernation" 1 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society in Lorenzi Park.

The program should be of interest to all tortoise owners.

Boulevard prepares for back to school

A Back-to-School Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 20 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Boulevard mall, 3528 S. Maryland Parkway.

The Boulevard will team up with the Clark County School District, Clark County Health District, and KVBC Channel 3 to provide information to parents regarding the upcoming school year.

Many other organizations will be available to offer information on busing, registration, zoning and more. The Health District will offer immunizations for school-aged children for a minimal fee. Parents must bring their child's shot records for immunizations.

Customers will have the opportunity to spin the Boulevard prize wheel when they register for the mall's online program for a chance to win a $100 Boulevard gift card.

Kids offered bilingual classes

The class Bilingual Tots for ages 3.5-5 is being offered Fridays at Brinley Community School, 6150 Smoke Ranch Road.

The fee is $66 for three months. Call 646-9046.

"How to Buy a House for DummEZ"

will be offered for adults from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. every first Thursday of each month at Molasky Community School, 7801 W. Gilmore Ave. Call 229-5345.
