Dent ousted
At Indianapolis, unseeded Robby Ginepri came from a set down to beat one of the top seeds at the RCA Championships for the third consecutive day, winning the second ATP title of his career when Taylor Dent retired from heat illness in the third set Sunday.
Ginepri lost the first set 4-6, but took the second 6-0 and led 3-0 in the third when Dent bowed out.
Schnyder, from Switzerland, needed three service breaks in the first set to overcome her own lapses, then dominated the second set to win her 10th WTA title.
Nadal beat Gaudio -- last year's French Open champion -- 6-3, 6-3, 6-4, for his eighth title this year, matching top-ranked Roger Federer.
Brown meets with Knicks' owner
Larry Brown and James L. Dolan spent Sunday evening together in East Hampton, N.Y., a highly anticipated rendezvous that could have a profound impact on the Knicks for years to come.
Isiah Thomas, the Knicks' president, was also present for the meeting, but the chemistry between Dolan and Brown is viewed as the most critical at this stage in the Knicks' courtship of Brown.
Brown is scheduled to meet Monday with Herb Williams, who coached the Knicks for the final three months of last season.
Brown has said that if he takes the job, he wants Williams on his staff. If Brown declines the job, Williams will be hired as the head coach.
Thomas has set a goal of resolving the coaching situation by Aug. 1.
Injured Aussie rider regains consciousness
Australian cyclist Alexis Rhodes, who was critically injured in an accident in Germany last week that killed teammate Amy Gillett, is responding well after regaining consciousness, officials said.
Rhodes, who suffered chest trauma and spinal injuries when a car hit the Australian Institute of Sport women's road cycling team, was woken by doctors at University Clinic in Jena, Germany, Cycling Australia said.
Gillett, 29, died at the scene and five of teammates were injured on July 18 when a teenage driver careened into them.
