Dodgers dump Chen

Monday, July 25, 2005 | 9:18 a.m.

Chin-Feng Chen, the Las Vegas 51s' all-time leader in home runs, RBIs and total bases, was designated for assignment by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday.

Chen had been with the Dodgers since July 4. He was called up shortly after outfielder J.D. Drew suffered a broken wrist.

When the Dodgers activated outfielder Milton Bradley from his rehabilitation assignment with Las Vegas on Saturday, Chen was designated. The Dodgers now have eight days to trade Chen or offer him free agency. After that, he could opt to stay with the Dodgers and accept a demotion to Triple-A.

The 51s return home for an eight-game homestand on Tuesday.
