Regarding your July 20 editorial headlined, "Better pay for teachers," you note that new teachers receive a $2,000 bonus plus a base salary of $28,491. While this might be the basic package, the total value of the package, with health insurance and other benefits, is $39,353. And earnings increase quickly with continuing education.
Don't you agree that $39,353 is plenty for someone with no experience, working just 39 weeks a year?
