Lack of finances shouldn’t keep kids from camp

WEEKEND EDITION

July 23-24, 2005

A mother needs help to send her son to Boy Scout Camp and said sending him would be the "surprise of a lifetime."

She said her son really enjoys going to camp, but he did not ask to go because of finances.

"It broke my heart because he said he knew he couldn't go because it cost $260," she wrote in a letter to the Sun Summer Camp Fund.

The camp fund helps to send children to camp every summer who otherwise might not be able to afford it. All donations sent to the fund go directly toward camp scholarships.
