Replica of famous LV sign OK’d

Drivers on Boulder Highway will soon get a sense of deja vu after a replica of one of Las Vegas' most famous landmarks takes shape there.
The Clark County Commission on Tuesday approved a donation from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority of another "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign for the busy corridor.
The LVCVA is expected to donate the $75,000 sign, which will be built on a median near Nevada Palace. No date has been set for the sign to be installed, county Public Works spokesman Bobby Shelton said.
Once built, the sign will be an exact replica of the neon sign on the Las Vegas Strip near Mandalay Bay. It will become the property of Clark County, which will pay the $2,000 a year in electric bills from its Special Improvement District budget. It is part of the Boulder Highway Beautification Plan.
