Argument blamed in fatal stabbing
An argument over noise coming from an apartment at Nellis and Las Vegas boulevards led to a fatal stabbing Tuesday, Metro Police said.
The victim, Clifford Johnson, 22, and another man got into an argument about noise about 2 a.m. at Nellis Gardens complex. Johnson was stabbed and died several hours later at University Medical Center.
"It seemed like it was a simple noise issue that erupted into a fight that culminated in a stabbing," Sgt. Ken Hefner said.
No arrests had been reported by police in the case as of this morning.
Man arrested in Saturday's stabbing
Metro Police arrested a 29-year-old man Tuesday in connection with the fatal stabbing of another man Saturday in an apartment complex near Paradise Road and Sahara Avenue.
Rashad Harris was taken into custody in 700 block of East Sahara Avenue by officers with the South Central Area Command without incident, police said. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of murder.
Harris is accused of stabbing a man to death in the parking lot of the apartment complex during an argument. The victim's name has not yet been released.
Pedestrian killed near Riviera
A pedestrian was hit by a car and killed this morning on Las Vegas Boulevard outside of the Riviera, Metro Police said.
The collision occurred about 3:15 a.m. The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Traffic was diverted from the area for several hours while detectives investigated the incident.
Bicyclist hit by tractor-trailer
A bicyclist was critically injured this morning after apparently being hit by a tractor-trailer on State Route 159, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.
The collision occurred about 6 a.m. Troopers found debris from the truck at the scene, Trooper Angie Chavera said. The truck should have damage to the left front side.
The bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was being treated this morning at University Medical Center.
On Sunday a 45-year-old Las Vegas man suffered fatal injuries in a wreck on the same stretch of road. Edward J. Grant's green 1998 Mercury Mountaineer drifted onto the shoulder and he over-corrected, causing the vehicle to roll, Chavera said.
He was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. He died about 6 a.m., an hour after the crash.
