Henderson offers visit to Queen Mary
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will host an excursion to Long Beach, Calif., Aug. 13 for a visit to the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Queen Mary.
The bus departs at 4:30 a.m. from Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St., and at 5 a.m. from Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway.

After visiting the aquarium, the bus will take visitors to the Queen Mary. Passengers will take a self-guided tour of the historic ocean liner and will be treated to the ship's popular Ghosts and Legends show, which is a walk-through show that offers dramatizations of true paranormal and historic events that have been reported over the life of the vessel.
Registration is $85 (ages 5 and up) and includes round-trip transportation to Long Beach, admission and a guided tour of the Queen Mary, and admission to the aquarium. Registration must be received by Aug. 5. For additional information, call 267-4053.
Park to honor Siegfried and Roy
A new Las Vegas park will soon bear the names of Siegfried and Roy.
The Clark County Commission on Tuesday approved naming the 22-acre park for famed illusionists Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn, whose popular tiger-themed show ran at the Mirage from 1990 to 2003 and made the pair household names.
The neighborhood park, situated at the corner of Russell Road and Maryland Parkway, is expected to break ground next year and will open to the public in 2007, officials said. It will feature two large covered play features, one large swing set and jogging paths
Siegfried and Roy Park is part of an effort to reconfigure Russell as a primary entrance to McCarran International Airport, county officials said.
