Henderson youth set for Boys Nation
Gibran Baydoun, 16, of Henderson, a senior at Green Valley High School, was named Nevada delegate for the American Legion's Boys Nation in Washington, D.C.
The Boys Nation program provides a week of government training in the nation's capital, comprised of lectures and forums with visits to federal agencies, institutions, memorials and historical sites.
Baydoun was selected as a delegate for the program based on his academic record, leadership potential and previous activities associated with the American Legion Boys State program in Nevada.
Nicole Makarchuk of Henderson
was recently selected to participate in the Students to Leaders Program, educational workshops for high school juniors and seniors, sponsored by the National Italian American Foundation. Makarchuk attends Coronado High School.
Scott Erb of Las Vegas
has been awarded the Robert Campbell Foundation Scholarship from the University of North Dakota for the 2005-2006 academic year. Erb, son of Dwayne and Dana Erb, graduated from Rancho High School and will be a freshman at UND this fall.
