In-Bee Park tied for 8th at U.S. Junior Amateur
Bishop Gorman High School's In Bee Park, the defending state champion, shot a 2-under-par 69 on Monday to tie for eighth place after one round at the U.S. Girls' Junior Amateur at Eagle, Idaho.
Park was six shots off the pace set by Taylor Karle of Scottsdale, Ariz., who toured the 6,348-yard BanBury Golf Club layout with an 8-under 63.
Park was tied with seven other players at 69. Morgan Pressel of Boca Raton, Fla., was in second place, three shots behind Karle.
The tournament continues through Saturday.
Kahne's attorneys want suit to be tossed
Attorneys for Kasey Kahne today asked a federal judge in Detroit to throw out Ford's breach-of-contract lawsuit against the NASCAR driver.
U.S. District Judge Robert Cleland in Detroit was to hear arguments on the request Wednesday.
Ford sued Kahne in Wayne County Circuit Court in July 2004, the county where the Michigan automaker is headquartered. The company claimed he signed a contract that obligated him to drive Fords for Robert Yates Racing and appear in promotional activities. But in October 2003, the suit alleged, Kahne bolted Ford and joined a Dodge team owned by Ray Evernham.
Ex-Bronco to coach
Former Denver Broncos defensive lineman Rubin Carter will be introduced Wednesday as the new head coach at Florida A&M. He will succeed Billy Joe, who resigned last month along with two assistants amid a cheating investigation.
