First 2005-06 property tax bills to hit mailboxes this week
Monday, July 18, 2005 | 8:43 a.m.
The first property tax bills since a popular cap on the assessments went into effect will hit Clark County mailboxes beginning this week, officials said Friday.
The county treasurer's office has begun mailing the 2005-06 bills, the first such statements since limits capping the taxes at 3 percent for owner-occupied homes and 8 percent on most other properties. The Nevada Legislature approved the limits earlier this Spring in light of skyrocketing property values. Property taxes are disbursed to state, the Clark County School District and local libraries, officials said. Homeowners who choose to pay their property tax bills in installments must have the first payment in my Aug. 15.
Those who have not received a bill by Aug. 1 are urged to call 455-4323 or visit www.accessclarkcounty.com/treasurer.
