Two sisters who have been through trying times deserve the opportunity to go to summer camp, their school counselor writes.
Both of their parents are addicts, the counselor wrote, and the two girls have spent much of their lives just trying to survive.
Their mother wants to send both girls to camp, but cannot afford to.
"For all things to be fair both would have to go or no one goes," the mother wrote. "These girls have dealt with rejection enough and to select one would crush the other."
Their counselor writes that going to camp would let each girl "be free to be herself, learn new things and gain new insights."
Donations given to the Las Vegas Sun Camp Fund go directly to providing camp scholarships for children, like these two sisters, who might not otherwise be able to go to camp because of financial reasons.
