Tanzie Lee Austin
Tanzie Lee Austin, 41, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born July 21, 1963, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a laborer.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria; two sons, Tanzie Lee Austin Jr. and Tracy Tucker, both of North Las Vegas; three daughters, Talisha Austin and Porshay Austin, both of Las Vegas, and Janaria Tucker of North Las Vegas; his father, Lester Lee Austin of Portland, Ore.; his mother, Irene Pettaway of North Las Vegas; five brothers, Shawn Austin and Antoine Austin, both of North Las Vegas, Coney Ray Austin of Arkansas, Rickey Austin of Las Vegas and Deon Austin of Oregon; seven sisters, Ladell Hall, Monique Austin, Krista Austin and Shirley Baker, all of Las Vegas, Wilas Austin of Missouri and Leslie Austin of New York and Ramona Austin of Oregon; and one grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Monday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St. A private burial will follow.
Dorothy Banker-Rodriguez
Dorothy Banker-Rodriguez, 55, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 15, 1949, in New York. A resident for five years, she was a reservationist for a hotel.
She is survived by her husband, Alfonso; two daughters, Aartje Kamperdijk and Elizabeth Molina; one brother, Raymond Silva; two sisters, Betty McGovern and Ernestina Schaffer; and one grandchild.
Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Bernabe Calicdan
Bernabe Calicdan, 77, of North Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born June 15, 1928, in the Philippines. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired automobile mechanic.
He is survived by his wife, Lourdes; two sons, Ramon Calicdan of Hagatna, Guam, and Elijah John Calicdan of Dededo, Guam; five daughters, Bernadette Mundon, May Sana and Farah Calicdan, all of Las Vegas, and Mary Jane Reyes and Celia Bensan, both of Dededo; 25 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Saturday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.
Ida Mae Coleman
Ida Mae Coleman, 88, of Los Angeles died July 7 in Los Angeles. She was born Sept. 4, 1916, in Eagle Lake, Texas. A former Las Vegas resident for 44 years, she was a Vo-Tech High School teacher, a member of Order of the Eastern Star and the Cosmetizue Club.
She is survived by one daughter, Myrtle K. Coleman of Las Vegas; two sisters, Bertha Carroll of Las Vegas and Audrey Anderson of Virginia; one brother, Alfred Hinton of Houston; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison Ave.
Arthur 'Buddy' Fowler
Arthur "Buddy" Fowler, 87, of Dallas died Sunday in a veterans hospital. He was born Aug. 9, 1917, in Fiddlers, Miss. A former resident for 50 years, he was a hotel bar manager and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; four daughters, Ollie Mischeaux of St. Louis, Kimberly Fowler and Kalani Fowler Co-Ward, both of Las Vegas, and Kimani Fowler of Dallas; two sons, Christopher Fowler of Las Vegas and Christian Fowler of Dallas; and one sister, Elizabeth Williams of Haynesville, La.
Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
Frances E. Gardner
Frances E. Gardner, 87, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born June 28, 1918, in Warsaw, Mo. A resident for 11 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Alan Chamberlain of Las Vegas; one daughter, Pat Hendricks of Wellington; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.
Laurence B. Labarthe
Laurence B. Labarthe, 96, of Las Vegas and San Francisco died July 4 in San Francisco. He was born July 5, 1909. A Nevada resident since he was 3 days old, he was the assistant chief of the Goldfield Fire Department from 1928 to 1929; a retired World War II Merchant Marine and Coast Guard veteran, a member of Les Faneurs and Ligue Henri IV lodges in San Francisco.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Alexander Labarthe of Goldfield; and one sister, Marie Schneehagen of Las Vegas.
He is survived by 13 cousins.
A private burial at sea will be held by the Marine Firemen Union of San Francisco.
The family suggests donations to Central Nevada Museum, P.O. Box 326, Tonopah, NV 89049.
Edward Loibl
Edward Loibl, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Central City, Neb. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired truck driver for a freight line, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by two daughters, Toni Powell and Marilyn McCloskey, both of Las Vegas; one son, Allen Loibl of Canby, Ore.; one sister, Mary Jane Loibl of Pullyup, Wash.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling private arrangements.
Dorothy 'Dotty' Rosansky
Dorothy "Dotty" Rosansky, 79, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local care center. She was born Jan. 12, 1926, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 14 years, she was a matron for a commercial building.
She is survived by two daughters, Beth Sattler of Las Vegas and Ina Guisto of Staten Island, N.Y.; two sons, Stuart Rosansky of Schenectady, N.Y., and Mark Rosansky of Manorville, N.Y.; and 10 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane, is handling arrangements.
Katherine Schindler
Katherine Schindler, 70, of North Las Vegas died Monday in North Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 19, 1935, in St. Joseph, Mo. A resident for 50 years, she was a retired physical education aide.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamela J. Kaminski of Las Vegas and Cindy English of Filer, Idaho; two sons, Greg Schindler and Jeff Schindler, both of Las Vegas; one brother, William Herzog of Arlington, Texas; and five grandchildren.
Services will be 6 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., and 10 a.m. Friday in St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.
Otis 'Melvin' Vales
Otis "Melvin" Vales, 75, of Las Vegas died June 19 in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 12, 1929, in Arkansas. A resident of Beatty for 38 years and most recently a resident of Las Vegas for two years, he was cook and an Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Troy Vales of Stockton, Calif., and Elvis Vales of Northern California.
He is survived by two sons; one sister, Loretta Elliott of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two brothers, Phillip Vales of Sierra Madre, Calif., and Ernie Vales of Santa Ana, Calif.
Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 Eastern Ave., assisted with arrangements.
