Letter: Nevada failed to help defeat Bush
Thursday, July 14, 2005 | 9:07 a.m.
This is in regard to Frank Perna's July 8 letter. Yes, Mr. Perna, Nevadans should be infuriated with President Bush. On the other hand, Nevada helped to elect him as president. He lied to us in 2000 regarding Yucca Mountain. Yet, Nevadans still re-elected him in 2004. Obviously, Nevadans were not infuriated enough. Voting for Bush was obviously a vote of approval for Yucca Mountain.
Bush is definitely not Nevada's friend. Now he wants to take money from federal land sales in the state, which by an act of Congress are supposed to be spent in Nevada, and use the money to help reduce the federal deficit that he created.
From my point of view, Bush considers Nevada the garbage dump of the world. He has lied to Nevada, and America, so many times, including about the reasons for going to war in Iraq.
Yes, Mr. Perna, I too am infuriated. But obviously, most Nevadans don't feel that way. We had our chance to let him know how we feel, and we did not do it.
