NLV Police issue citations
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 | 9:36 a.m.
North Las Vegas Police issued 93 citations Tuesday in a six-hour pedestrian safety enforcement effort.
Police reported 58 citations for failure to yield right-of-way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, three pedestrian related violations, and four seatbelt citations. They also made two arrests and recovered one stolen vehicle.
Police focused on crosswalks on Lake Mead Boulevard and Las Vegas Boulevard North. The effort was the second of 10 funded by a state grant.
The goals of Tuesday's effort and those to come under the grant are to increase driver awareness about the laws that give pedestrians the right-of-way when legally crossing roadways and to change driver behavior by enforcing traffic laws that are designed to protect pedestrians and their rights-of-way.
