Lottery commission hires law firm

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Lottery Commission on Tuesday voted to hire the Andrews Davis law firm of Oklahoma City as its outside legal counsel.

The commission also approved a $26,000 expenditure for the office of Attorney General Drew Edmondson for routine legal work.

Commissioners held lengthy discussions on drafting requests for proposals for advertising and audit firms and they plan to approve them at a special meeting to be called later or at the panel's regularly scheduled meeting Aug. 9.

James Scroggins, executive director of the lottery, also said he is working on obtaining lottery equipment at a discount and on a plan for selecting a television studio for filming lottery drawings.

The commission has a target date of Oct. 12 for the sale of instant lottery tickets, with online lottery sales planned for November.
