Fishing report: Holiday weekend finds best action for lake boaters

Shore anglers are not enjoying nearly as good action and are waiting for stripers to come within casting range. Top water lures and anchovies have caught stripers recently around the 33 Hole, Saddle Cove and Gypsum Wash.

There also have been reports of stripers being taken in the vicinity of Boxcar Cove, although the action has been sporadic. Some of the stripers that have been caught recently in the Boulder Basin have been thin, particularly those caught around Hemenway Fishing Point. Channel catfish are being caught in coves throughout the lake and by anglers who are using anchovies to fish for stripers.

Fires are permitted in the David Deacon campground, but are banned on surrounding lands because of extremely dry conditions.
