Parade to honor Mormon pioneers
The sixth annual Pioneer Day Parade and Old-Fashioned Activities event will begin with a parade 9 a.m. Saturday at both the Fox Ridge Park and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the corner of Valle Verde and Fox Ridge Drive in Henderson.
The parade will honor Southern Nevada's pioneer history, which includes the 100th birthday of Las Vegas and the 150th anniversary of Mormons settling at the Old Mormon Fort.
The event is free and open to the public. Call 896-7452.
Free health fair set for Saturday
Epoch Assisted Living of Las Vegas will host its second annual community health fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the center, 8720 W. Flamingo Road.
A variety of senior care service providers will be in attendance, including the home health care and hospice agencies, physical therapists and medical services providers. Free services to be offered at the health fair include oxygen level checks, blood pressure clinics and fitness screens.
The event will feature prize giveaways throughout the day. The free event is open to the public. Call 360-6023 ahambly@epochsl.com.
The Southern Nevada Group of the Sierra Club
will present "New Equipment and Technology for Outdoor Recreation by REI" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Nevada Power Co., 6226 W. Sahara Ave. Call 648-2983 or 873-7117.
