Organization to elect board members to open seats
Thursday, July 7, 2005 | 11:15 a.m.
At its next board of directors meeting Tuesday, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority will elect members for two open seats and a 14th member will join the board.
The cities of Boulder City and Mesquite had previously been sharing one seat on the board with alternate terms, but under a new state law, will each have their own seat. That means Mesquite Mayor Bill Nicholes will join the board along with Boulder City Councilman Mike Pacini.
In addition, the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce has nominated President Kara Kelley and Harrah's Entertainment Inc. executive Tom Jenkin. The Nevada Resort Association has nominated MGM Grand executive Chuck Bowling and Station Casinos Inc. executive Glenn Christenson.
Board members representing government will vote on Kelley and Christenson to fill seats vacated by Vice Chairman Bob Forbuss and former Caesars Entertainment Inc. executive Tony Santo. Jenkin and Bowling, who are already on the board, are up for reappointment.
