New City Councilman Ross takes oath of office
Thursday, July 7, 2005 | 9:54 a.m.
Flanked by his immediate family, newly elected Las Vegas Ward 6 City Councilman Steve Ross was sworn into office on Wednesday.
"I am humbled by this," Ross told the audience after taking the oath of office. "I'm taking this office very seriously."
He pledged to work hard to improve the quality of life for all city residents.
Ross, an electrical contractor, beat fellow first-time candidate Mary Gillins by 128 votes in last month's election to win the council seat.
He replaced Michael Mack, who decided not to seek re-election, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family.
