Letter: One-party trends must be stemmed
Thursday, July 7, 2005 | 8:50 a.m.
Why are some recent Supreme Court decisions so radically different from the U.S. Constitution that we citizens studied in public schools?
Why are so many lower-court decisions so unlike what the public seems to expect?
Why do our elected representatives (state and federal) consistently ignore the voters by enacting legislation following party lines?
Why do so many voters appear to forget all this when the time to vote finally arrives?
Why do our biased media outlets consistently report only their version of the news and opinions?
These institutions -- devised to protect our lives, property and rights -- now all seem to be turning against us.
Why have the seeds of one-party rule of the United States been planted? Whether these seeds nurture during the present regime or the next depends on which way the voters tip the coin.
Is there really no way to stop these trends?
