HARRISBURG, Pa. -- The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board named its first executive director today, one of several key hires approved in the wake of a recent court decision clearing the way for the state to introduce slot-machine gambling.
Ann Lacour Neeb, a lawyer and New Orleans native who has headed the Louisiana Gaming Control Board since last year, was hired pending a successful background investigation at a salary of $180,000.
The board also appointed David J. Kwait to run its investigative bureau at a $140,000 salary. His hiring is also contingent on a successful background check. Kwait, a longtime FBI agent, most recently was chief of criminal investigations at the Pennsylvania attorney general's office.
Lawyers Nanette Horner, Michael Schwoyer and Lisa McClain also were hired for the board's legal office.
Board chairman Tad Decker said dozens of candidates were interviewed before the five were selected.
