Henderson schedules kids sports camp
Henderson Parks and Recreation will host a two-day, multisports camp for children ages 9 to 13.
The camp will run from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. July 23 and 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. the following day.
Cost is $85 per child and includes a T-shirt, finisher medal, certificate, snacks and water.
Children should bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, running shoes, bicycle and helmet. By learning swimming, cycling, running and good nutrition they will be prepared to participate in an end-of-the-session triathalon.

Program planned on exotic tortoises
The Tortoise Group will host a free presentation about exotic tortoises at 1 p.m. July 16 at the Nevada State Museum in Lorenzi Park.
The care given to our native desert tortoises will be compared to the treatment needed for the more exotic tortoises from other countries. Refreshments will be provided. Call 739-8043.
Meditation course on tap at library
Representatives of spiritual teacher Sant Baljit Singh will conduct a free, four-hour course on "Inner Light and Sound" meditation at 1:30 p.m. July 31 at the Las Vegas Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd.
The program consists of a one-hour lecture followed by three hours of instruction. The course will teach how to alleviate stress and achieve harmonious balance with body, mind and soul. Call (877) MEDITATE (633-4828).
NLV Chamber plans breakfast meeting
The North Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce will hold a breakfast meeting at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday in the Acapulco Room of the Fiesta Rancho.
The program will feature the three-minute network workout. Cost is $17 for prepaid members; $20 for prepaid nonmembers. Add $5 to payment at the door. Call 642-9595 to make reservations or log onto www.northlasvegaschamber.com.
