No major fires reported on Fourth

No major fires or injuries were caused by fireworks over the Fourth of July holiday in the Las Vegas, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials.

Firefighters from Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Clark County responded to 1,100 emergency incidents including auto accidents, medical calls and fires, a slight increase from 1040 calls last year.

The most serious fire in Las Vegas during the weekend was a house fire in the 1300 block of Melissa Street, near Owens and Eastern avenues. The fire caused $150,000 in damage and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Clark County Fire Department firefighters responded to 162 calls between July 1 and July 4, and 98 of those calls happened on the Fourth of July.

There were 136 calls to the North Las Vegas Fire Department, a small decrease from 149 calls last year. However, the number of fire related calls increased from 44 in 2004 to 49 this year.

The Henderson Fire Department responded to 146 calls on the Fourth of July, approximately 34 of which were fire-related. Last year the department received 108 calls, 23 of which were fire calls.
