Dad, girl reunited after alleged kidnapping
Tuesday, July 5, 2005 | 10:52 a.m.
A father and daughter were reunited after the 7-year-old girl was kidnapped by her mother, who forced her way into the girl's home early Monday morning, police said.
The mother and an accomplice beat the father and his roommate John Bell, shot him with a stun gun and threatened them with knives, Metro Police said.
A persistent knocking at the door led Bell to open the door and then he was pushed out of the way by the man, according to a report by KLAS-TV Channel 8.
Police reported that at about 4:30 a.m. Monday, Grewdolm Glancey and a man identified as Jose Miranda forced their way into Robert Glancey's home with a knife, gun and stun gun. Grewdolm Glancey and her accomplice tied up Glancey and Bell with duct tape and then kidnapped the girl, police said.
Police later arrested Grewdolm Glancey, 32, and Miranda on charges of kidnapping, burglary and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a crime and brought the girl back home.
Robert Glancey was overjoyed to be reunited with his daughter, he told Channel 8.
Glancey and his roommate said they thought they were going to die.
"There was something pointed at my head and I thought for sure I was gonna die," Glancey told the TV station. "I thought she was going to kill me and just take her daughter back."
Glancey said that the violent incident resulted from Grewdolm Glancey hanging out with pornography peddlers along the Las Vegas Strip.
"We were in love, everything was great until we moved here and she started messing with the people handling out those cards," Glancey said in the TV report.
"And she started using drugs again," he alleged.
Glancey has custody of the 7-year-old. Grewdolm Glancey's older daughter is in foster care. It was on a scheduled visit with that daughter Monday when Metro Police found Grewdolm Glancey and the younger girl.
"And that's what we thought all along," Metro Sgt. Tom Wagner told Channel 8. "That mom would try to take that daughter and leave the country as dad had suspected. But dad also suspected that he would see his daughter again."
