We were told that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and was a threat to his neighbors. We were told that Saddam had ties to Osama bin Laden and therefore was complicit in the 9/11 attack.
We were told that our troops would be greeted as liberators in Iraq. We were told that the insurgents were just "a few dead-enders," who would easily be eliminated. We were told "Mission Accomplished."
All of these pronouncements from the Bush administration have proven to be wrong.
With this in mind, why should the American people have any confidence in the rosy forecast for the future of the Iraq war that President Bush outlined in the speech to the nation Tuesday night?
