Nevada projects included in bill

WASHINGTON -- Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., secured $7 million for Nevada projects in an Interior Department spending bill approved by the Senate this week.
The bill included $750,000 for a fire warning system on Mount Charleston to aid the mountain's 1,000 residents and visitors, who number about 3 million annually. Plans call for an alert siren, reader boards along the roads and a "fuel reduction" program to remove sick and dead trees near cabins.
