Red Hat Society

Women at least 50 years old are invited to join a new Red Hat Society chapter forming at the Derfelt Senior Citizens Center, 3343 W. Washington Ave., at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Admission is free. 229-6601.

Master dance class

Young dancers ages 10-17 are invited to participate in a free dance class taught by members of Ailey II, one of the most popular dance companies in the country, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Reservations are required. 229-4800.

Barn dance

The Southern Nevada Old-Time Contra Dancers will co-sponsor an "Old Time Barn Dance" from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Charleston Heights Arts Center Ballroom, 800 S. Brush St. Tickets are $6 adults, $5 members, $3 students and active military, free for children under 15. 229-6383.

Fiddle workshop

Fiddle player Richard Greene will host a fiddle workshop at 3 p.m. Sunday at Acoustic Routes, 2753 S. Highland Drive. Tickets are $11 in advance and $15 at the door. 385-1232.

'Road to Brown'

The Cultural Affairs Division of the city of Las Vegas will present the movie "The Road to Brown" at 2 p.m. Saturday at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd., as part of its "Living the Dream" series, dealing with African-American issues. Admission is free. 229-4800.

Concert, lunch

A "Taste of Soul Doo Wop 2 Hip Hop" soul concert and gumbo luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Frank Wright Plaza, located at Fourth Street and Stewart Avenue, as part of Black History Month. The concert is free, but gumbo is $5 for chicken and $7 for seafood. 229-6993.

Tai chi classes
