Officer involved in standoff ID'd

North Las Vegas Police have released the name of the officer involved in a standoff with a shotgun-wielding driver Monday.

Officer Clarence Tolliver, who has served on the force for more than six years, used his patrol car to end a high-speed chase by ramming his squad car into a suspect's pickup truck.

The suspect, Marcus Thomas, 23, had been aiming his shotgun at people near Valley Drive and Washburn Road and fired once at police as they approached him, North Las Vegas Police spokesman Tim Bedwell alleged.

Bedwell also said officers had heard Thomas make suicidal remarks. Thomas was arrested on felony charges including attempted murder of a police officer.

Man wanted in Oregon arrested

A man wanted in connection with a street gang murder in Portland, Ore., was arrested Wednesday by a fugitive task force in Las Vegas.

Eric Lee Presley, 23, was arrested near Tropicana Avenue and Fort Apache Road by the U.S. Marshal-led Nevada Fugitive Investigative Strike Team.

Presley was wanted by Portland authorities on homicide charges in the October 2003 shooting of Emanual Christopher Mosley. Both Presley and Mosley are alleged to be Blood gang members, according to Portland authorities.

Presley will be taken back to Portland to face murder charges.
