Fatal stabbing investigated
Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005 | 9:37 a.m.
Metro Police are investigating the stabbing death of a man found Wednesday morning on North Fourth Street near Las Vegas Boulevard North.
Homicide Sgt. Ken Hefner said bystanders flagged down the crew on a Republic Services garbage truck about 7:10 a.m. and told them they had seen a dead body nearby in the 600 block of North Fourth Street.
The trash crew went to the location, saw the body of a man in the street and radioed their dispatcher, who called police.
Patrol officers and emergency medical personnel confirmed the man was dead of an apparent stab wound, Hefner said.
Detectives believe the victim lived in a house in the immediate area. The front door to the house was ajar, he said. Several other people are believed to live in the house; no one was home.
The man's identity has not yet been released.
Detectives are asking the occupants of the victim's house, or anyone has information on the homicide, to contact the homicide section at 229-3521.
