Deadline nears for seniors’ rebates

County Assessor Mark Schofield said Tuesday that his office will begin accepting applications for the Senior Citizens Tax/Rent Assistance program.

To qualify, seniors must be 62 by June 30; a Nevada resident since July 1; own or rent property in Clark County, including a manufactured home or lot; and have a total household income of $25,304 or less, including Social Security.

Seniors must provide a copy of their Social Security 1099 form, proof of any additional income and a copy of their IRS return (if they file).

Renters must supply copies of their rent receipts for 2004.

The State Division of Aging Services requires that first-time applicants provide proof of age (Nevada driver's license or I.D., birth certificate, or some other legal document showing date of birth).

The deadline to file for the program is April 30. For more information, call 455-3882.
