Training set for home hospice workers
Training classes for Family Home Hospice volunteers will be 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday in the Charleston Towers Building, 1701 W. Charleston Blvd., Suite 201.
FHH volunteers provide active listening, socialization, companionship and caregiver relief for patients and their caregivers. Training is also offered through the Family Home Hospice home study program. Call 671-1193.
Artists getting a call to work
The Contemporary Arts Collective is issuing a call for work from all artists 18 years or older to participate in the CAC's 16th annual juried show.
The art exhibit bestows a $1,000 cash prize on the Best of Show. Additional second ($500), third ($300) and honorary mentions ($50) will also be awarded.
This year's juror is Edward Cardoni, executive director of Hallways, a 25-year-old contemporary alternative arts space, funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation, the NEA and the New York State Arts Council.
Exhibition dates are March 19 through April 9. To enter, artists are requested to drop off two actual artworks from noon to 4 p.m. March 8-11 at 101 E. Charleston Blvd, Suite 101 in the Arts Factory on the corner of Main Street. Call 382-3886.
Cancer Society hosts Relay for Life
The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Cambridge Recreation Center, 3930 Cambridge St., off Twain and Maryland Parkway.
The event is a way to join with others in the community in the fight against cancer and to raise funds for the activities of the American Cancer Society, as well as a way to celebrate the lives being saved from cancer and to remember the lost.
Teams form and raise money prior to the event, then come prepared to camp out and enjoy the activities and celebration of life. For more information on forming a team or participating as a survivor, come to to kick off or call 798-6877, Ext. 25.
