Monday, Jan. 24, 2005 | 9:43 a.m.

The Metro Police officer who shot a 16-year-old boy the arm last week is Warren Rivas-Guevara, police said.

According to a department statement, Rivas-Guevara, 33, has been employed by Metro since August 2001 and was assigned to the patrol division in the northwest area command.

Rivas-Guevara shot the boy after he and other officers responded to a call Thrusday morning from the boy's mother. According to Metro, the boy pulled a knife on the officer before leading him on a foot chase that ended near Rainbow Boulevard and Washington Avenue.

The boy's mother told the Sun the teen had a troubled history and was prone to violent outbursts. She had called police after he allegedly began slashing her tires, yelling threats at her and repeatedly ringing the doorbell, she told police.

The boy is expected to be charged with domestic violence and resisting arrest with a weapon, police said.

In keeping with Metro policy, Rivas-Guevara will remain on administrative leave pending a hearing by the department's use of force board.
