LV flights planned for Pittsburgh, Anchorage

Two new nonstop round-trip flights will be added to America West Airlines' schedule later this year, including the city's first daily nonstop service to Alaska.

The Tempe, Ariz.-based airline, the No. 2 commercial passenger carrier at McCarran International Airport, announced today that it would offer daily flights to Anchorage, Alaska, and Pittsburgh.

The Anchorage flight, which will begin May 1, will leave Las Vegas at 11 a.m., arriving at 3:23 p.m., and leave Anchorage at 4:08 p.m., arriving at 10:15 p.m. The Pittsburg flight, which will begin April 3, will leave McCarran at 10:40 p.m., arriving at Pittsburgh International Airport at 5:35 a.m., and return at 8:45 a.m., arriving in Las Vegas at 10:30 a.m.

The airline will use a 124-seat Airbus A319 twin-engine jet on the Anchorage route and a 150-seat Airbus A320 jet for Pittsburgh.
