Sky Vue owners get suspended sentences

Friday, Jan. 21, 2005 | 9:59 a.m.

Sandi and David DiMarco, owners of the closed Sky Vue mobile home park, paid $6,792 in fines and fees and both received suspended 120-day jail sentences on Thursday under a settlement that satisfies the 13 charges they faced for doing business without a license.

The DiMarcos will stay out of jail so long as they stay out of trouble for the next year under the agreement with the City of Las Vegas that Municipal Judge Cedric Kerns accepted Thursday.

Karen Winckler, an attorney for the DiMarcos, said, "We're just glad it's behind us."

The city attorney handling the case declined to comment.

According to court records, 11 of the counts were against David DiMarco, and the other two are against Sandi DiMarco. The charges are misdemeanors, which each carry a maximum penalty of six months in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.

Sky Vue was forced to close April 30 after city and Clark County Health District officials said the park was unsafe for occupancy because of unsanitary conditions and a lack of fire hydrants.

The DiMarcos owe the city about $200,000 for fencing, relocating former Sky Vue residents, clean up and demolition of the mobile homes that were on the property, city spokesman David Riggleman said.

The city has not yet been paid, as the DiMarcos have filed for bankruptcy and the case is still in the courts.
