Family storytime
The North Las Vegas Library, 2300 Civic Center Drive, offers a family storytime at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Admission is free. 633-1070.
Poets' corner
Hosts Keith Brantley and Pendelita Toney will host a poets' corner from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Admission is free. 229-4800.
'Dole'
The Cultural Affairs Division of the city of Las Vegas will present the movie "Dole" at 2 p.m. Saturday at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd., as part of its "Living the Dream" series, dealing with African-American issues. Admission is free. 229-4800.
Martin Luther King celebration
The following events will be held this weekend in celebration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King:
Saturday, 6 p.m. -- Candlelight vigils at Stupak Community Center, 300 W. Boston Ave., and at Molasky Community School, 7801 W. Gilmore Ave. Admission is free, and candles will be provided. 229-2488 or 229-5345.
Saturday, 6 p.m. -- Vigil at the statue of Dr. King at the corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Carey Avenue. Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served. 229-5080 or 229-5345.
Tai chi classes
Free tai chi classes will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesdays at the District at Green Valley Ranch. 458-8855.
