State’s gasoline price drops again

Filling up in Nevada has continued to get a little cheaper, as AAA reported today that the state's gasoline prices fell again for the third consecutive month.

According to a monthly report from AAA, the average price for a gallon of gasoline fell six cents a gallon from the past month to $1.88. Gas in the Las Vegas Valley was even cheaper. The prices in the valley fell between 13 and 17 cents in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson to average $1.85 a gallon.

Experts attribute the decline to a large oil stockpile and relatively minor winter conditions on the East Coast, meaning consumers have not placed a large demand on heating oil, which allows the reserves to be built.

The Clark County prices are still higher than the national average of $1.81 but lower than the $1.97 and $1.94 in Los Angeles and Phoenix, respectively, according to AAA.

Meanwhile the cold snaps that have moved into the Midwest and East Coast this week could make the cheaper gasoline short-lived, as another run on fuel is expected, according to AAA.
