Man indicted in ID theft case

A Los Angeles man has been indicted in Las Vegas on federal charges that he allegedly was stealing mail and using the personal information of others to commit identity theft.

Robin Frederick Willis, 42, allegedly gained the confidence of one local businessman by telling him his family owned the Meadows mall, according to court documents.

Willis told the businessman he would improve his business by creating a Web site, but he never created the site and instead gained access to office records and credit cards.

Willis allegedly conducted identity theft scams in Las Vegas from the fall of 2002 until the fall of 2004, according to court documents.

Willis, who was was arrested last week, remains in federal custody in Las Vegas.
