Letter: CBS error not as costly as Bush lies

Dan Rather and members of the CBS News staff used questionable documents, whose claims have still not been disproved, to make their case on the issue of President Bush's service record. George W. Bush used questionable documents, whose claims have been disproved, to make a case for the war in Iraq.

CBS News' blunder cost the American taxpayer nothing in money, lives or national reputation.

Bush's blunder has cost at least $150 billion, the lives of more than 1,350 American troops and approximately 100,000 Iraqi civilians and police officers, and much of our international reputation.

Four people at CBS have lost their jobs because of the investigation into the questionable documents. Bush, though, has received a four-year extension of his position.

America has its priorities skewed.
