This letter is in reference to the column by Dan K. Thomasson published Jan. 12 on your Opinion Page headlined, "Washington to party while deaths mount."
Mr. Thomasson thinks we ought to relegate the inaugural celebration for President Bush to a couple of parties and a strong speech.
It seems to me the inauguration festivities are as much about showing our enemies that while they gave us a jolt, our system of government survives with another peaceful transition of power.
And that is cause for celebration, no matter which side has the White House. The cost? Priceless.
