Genealogy meeting focuses on letters
Mary Barkan will speak on "Genealogy Paper" at The Jewish Genealogy Society of Southern Nevada's meeting 1 p.m. Sunday in the multi-purpose room of the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.
The topic will cover genealogical correspondence in the form of letters to relatives, governmental agencies and e-mail correspondence. Call 228-5405.
Flu shots offered to veterans
The VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System is now offering flu shots for eligible veterans age 50 and over and continues to offer flu shots to eligible veterans of any age who have long-term health problems or a weakened immune system.
These are the locations:
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.: 901 Rancho Lane, 636-6370; 3131 La Canada St., 636-6360; 2410 Fire Mesa; 3880 S. Jones, 636-6390; 630 S. Rancho Drive, 636-6355.
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m.: 916 W. Owens Ave., 636-6380.
Monday-Friday, 8-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m., 2920 N. Green Valley Parkway, Suite 215, 456-3825.
Comedian George Wallace
and the students and staff of the Las Vegas Academys present "Laughter is the Best Medicine," a comedy festival at 7 tonight at the academy, 315 S. Seventh St. Call 799-7874.
The Chapman University Singers
and the Chapman University Choir will perform 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Green Valley High School Theatre, 460 Arroyo Grande Blvd., Henderson. Admission is free. Contact Kim Drusedum at 799-0950, ext. 260.
Frank Lamping Elementary School
in Henderson recently launched its own Web site to keep parents and the community up to date on activities and projects under way at the school, and to complement its ongoing Super Science Kids fundraising campaign. The Website address is www.LampingElementary.com. The school is raising funds to build a 4,300-square-foot science center to be named for space shuttle Columbia pilot William McCool.
