Lena Lou Barnette

Lena Lou Barnette, 79, of Las Vegas died Dec. 18 in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Casa Grande, Ariz. A resident for 48 years, she was a retired apartment complex owner.

She is survived by three daughters, JoAnn Jacobs, Janice Koerwitz and Lorree Bayiatis, and one son, John Barnette, all of Las Vegas; two stepdaughters, Dee Dee Smith of Yuma, Ariz., and Bobbi Jaeckel of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, Richard Handcock of Prescott, Ariz.; one sister, Jerry Woodman of Yuma; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Theresa Claire Brown

Theresa Claire Brown, 66, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. She was born Dec. 10, 1938, in Maryland. A resident for 25 years, she was a nurse.

She is survived by her husband, Rudolph; six sons, Stephen Schmidt, Dana Schmidt, Scott LeBaron, Dean Schmidt, Darren Bowman and Kevin Brown; one daughter, Stacey Wright; one sister, Martha Whalen; and 11 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be one hour prior to a noon service Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

William M. Collier

William M. Collier, 85, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 20, 1919, in Lee County, Ky. A resident for 16 years, he was a retired stationary steam engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Nora; one daughter, Bonita Batchelder of Las Vegas; two brothers, Donald J. Collier of Summerville, S.C., and Lloyd Collier of Trenton, Ohio; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Sunday in Palm Chapel, Eastern.

Karen Lynn Collins

Karen Lynn Collins, 52, of Las Vegas died Jan. 6 in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 16, 1952, in New York City. A resident for 29 years, she was a croupier.

She is survived by her husband, Joel Butchko; one daughter, Kimberly Panchavinin, and one son, Jeffrey Panchavinin, both of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m. until a noon service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Frederick F. Githens

Frederick F. Githens, 84, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born April 5, 1920, in Springfield, Ill. A resident for 45 years, he was a retired bank vice president, a World War II Army veteran, a member of Las Vegas Elks Lodge and the Musicians Union.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; one daughter, Denyse Miranda of Palm Beach, Fla.; one sister, Yvonne Lang of La Puente, Calif.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Joseph J. Gross

Joseph J. Gross, 88, of Pahrump died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born May 5, 1916, in Dawson, N.M. A resident for 16 years, he was a retired heating and plumbing service technician and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E.; four sons, Bart Gross of Pahrump, Larry Gross of Long Beach, Calif., Bob Gross of Fairfield, Calif., and Michael Gross of Laverne, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 1:20 p.m. Wednesday in in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Arvilla S. Grubb

Arvilla S. Grubb, 85, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born June 16, 1919, in South Charleston, W.Va. A resident for 38 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Daniel Gary Grubb; and two brothers, Owen Spradling and Edgar Spradling.

Services will be in South Charleston. Nevada Funeral Service, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

The family suggests donations to Rocklake Presbyterian Church in South Charleston.

Brian J. Hicks

Brian J. Hicks, 50, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born July 18, 1954, in Illinois. A resident for 30 years, he was a grocery store meat manager.

He is survived by his fiancee, Tara Karnas; one son, Derik Hicks; one daughter, Dana Murray; three brothers, Bruce, Forest and Wayne; one sister, Donna; and two grandchildren.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling private arrangements.

Latoi Lanier

Latoi Lanier, 22, of Las Vegas died Jan. 2 in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 29, 1982, in Las Vegas. She was a cashier.

She is survived by two sons, Terrel Turner and Gregory Neal, her mother, Gale Turner, her father, Walter Lanier; one brother, Darnell Coleman Jr., all of Las Vegas, one sister, Latasha Turner of North Las Vegas; and her grandmother, Annie Walker of Las Vegas.

Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. Friday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in New Light Missionary Baptist Church, 1165 Lawry Ave. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Phyllis C. Laughlin

Phyllis C. Laughlin, 84, of Las Vegas died Dec. 14 in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 16, 1920, in Illinois. A resident for 30 years, she was a psychiatric technician, a member of the Democratic Club, Campers Hikers Association, Las Vegas Hobos and Silver Sam Singles.

She is survived by one son, William Laughlin; two daughters, Ronee Kennedy and Jolinda Meyers; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Edith A. Lundin

Edith A. Lundin, 90, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local care center. She was born June 13, 1914, in McKeesport, Pa. A resident for two years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Linnea Plaskon of Las Vegas; two sons, Leonard Lundin of Las Vegas and Paul B. Lundin of Red Bluff, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Carrie B. McCoy

Carrie B. McCoy, 94, of Las Vegas died Sunday in North Las Vegas. She was born May 14, 1910, in Fordyce, Ark. A resident for four years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by four sons, John Robinson of Portsmouth, Va., Excell McCoy Jr. and Kenneth McCoy, both of North Las Vegas, and Clyde McCoy Sr. of Las Vegas; two daughters, Patricia Harris of North Las Vegas and Claudia Ward of Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services and burial will be in Arkansas.

Patricia A. McCracken

Patricia A. McCracken, 53, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born Aug. 13, 1951, in Elizabeth, N.J. A resident for 16 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Sr.; two sons, Robert McCracken Jr. of Las Vegas and Keenan McCracken of Louisiana; three daughters, Gloria Marie Bradford of Conroe, Texas, Melanie Driscoll of Houston and Tracy McCracken of Mount Pleasant, Texas; her father, Vito Parenti, and one sister, Joan Ray, both of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. today in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Graveside services will be 8 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Robert S. Palmer

Robert S. Palmer, 66, of Pahrump died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born Dec. 25, 1938, in Denver. A resident for 15 months, he was a retired Navy petty officer first class.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma I.; three daughters, Robin Palmer of Portland, Ore., Elizabeth Pittsley of San Diego and Mary Palmer of Las Vegas; two sons, Donald Palmer of Cortez, Colo., and Robert Palmer of Newton, Kan.; his mother, Lois Walsh, and one sister, Melinda Carrieri, both of Brewster, Wash.; one brother, David Palmer of Miami; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Leigh Allyn Schmucker

Leigh Allyn Schmucker, 50, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born June 6, 1954, in Oxnard, Calif. A resident for 32 years, she was a drug and alcohol abuse counselor.

She is survived by three sons, Rodd Fernandes of Pahrump, Daniel Fernandes of Kingsport, Tenn., and David Schmucker of Kingman, Ariz.; one daughter, Wendy Fernandes-Beard of Gardnerville; one brother, Daniel Trentham of Los Angeles; one sister, Erin Thompson of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon until a 3 p.m. service Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Thomas E. Simmons Jr.

Thomas E. Simmons Jr., 62, of North Las Vegas died Saturday in North Las Vegas. He was born July 1, 1942, in Prescott, Ark. A resident for seven years, he was a retired school driver and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Edith; one daughter, Zona Marie Morris of Atlanta; one son, Thomas E. Simmons III of Las Vegas; six stepdaughters, Lawanda Simpson of Dallas, Barbara Ann Hughes of Anaheim, Calif., Janice Marie Houston of Houston, Dorris Lorraine Evans of Moreno Valley, Calif., Wanda K. Davis of San Fernando Valley, Calif., and Marlaina LaShay Houston of Las Vegas; three stepsons, R.C. Houston Jr. and Michael Wayne Houston, both of Los Angeles and Morris Wayne Houston of Oakland, Calif.; 27 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 11 a.m. today in Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison Ave., followed by graveside services at 1:20 p.m. in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., handled arrangements.

Guillermo Trejo

Guillermo Trejo, 77, of Bisbee, Ariz., died Friday in Bisbee. He was born Feb. 11, 1927. A former 30-year resident of Southern Nevada from 1965 to 1995, he was an employee of the Department of Energy for 30 years and a World War II and Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Eleanor Trejo and Cecilia Trejo, both of Bisbee; two sons, Hector Trejo of Bisbee and Victor Trejo of Henderson; one sister, Raquel Avila of Phoenix; two brothers, Marcelino Trejo of Phoenix and Santiago Trejo of El Paso, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Graveside services will follow at noon Tuesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Alejandro Villalpando

Alejandro Villalpando, 76, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born April 14, 1929, in Texas. A resident for five months, he was a self-employed tailor.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; and one daughter, Alexis Villalpando of North Las Vegas.

William A. Willman

William A. Willman, 85, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 12, 1919, in Negaunce, Mich. A resident for 41 years, he was a retired supervisor for a property management company.

He is survived by his wife, LaVerne; two daughters, Susan Knight and Judy Jarvis, both of Las Vegas; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Main. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.
